Most people who use AI for health questions get generic answers because the AI knows nothing about them. HealthScout is different. It works with your actual medical records, across every provider you've seen, so the answers are specific to you.
GETTING STARTED
There are two ways to add health data, and you can use both.
My Added Records lets you start in under a minute. Point your camera at any lab result, imaging report, or doctor's note. Upload a PDF or photo from your camera roll. You can even photograph a report displayed on your computer screen. You'll be asking questions immediately.
Linking Healthcare Providers through Apple Health gives HealthScout access to your complete history from systems like Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, LabCorp, and Quest Diagnostics. Records update automatically after new visits or lab work. Many users start with My Added Records to try the app, then link providers later for deeper analysis.
You can also correct and add to your records directly. If a provider's record lists a medication you stopped taking, you can fix that. If you want to note a symptom or lifestyle change not captured in your formal records, you can add it. Your corrections take priority over provider data for all future questions. This makes HealthScout the most complete and accurate version of your health information that exists anywhere.
HOW HEALTHSCOUT ANSWERS QUESTIONS
When you ask a question, HealthScout doesn't immediately produce a wall of possibilities. It asks clarifying questions first. Where exactly is the pain? When did it start? What makes it worse? It uses your answers alongside your health records to give you a response specific to your situation. This is how good healthcare conversations actually work. Understand the situation first, then advise.
KEY FEATURES
Treatment Discovery Alerts monitor medical research and notify you when new treatments match your specific conditions. These are findings relevant to your actual health profile that you can bring to your next doctor's appointment.
Smart Question Cards analyze your records and generate personalized questions you would not think to ask on your own, like "Why has my kidney function dropped since February 2024?" or "What does increased echogenicity in my left kidney mean?"
HealthScout translates lab results, clinical notes, and medical jargon into plain English. You can ask unlimited follow-up questions.
PRIVACY
Your health data is encrypted on your device and protected with Face ID or Touch ID. When you ask a question, data is transmitted over encrypted connections using a compute-and-delete protocol. After the AI processes your question, your data is permanently deleted. HealthScout's AI partners are contractually prohibited from using your queries for model training.
There is no email collection, no account creation, and no login. HealthScout cannot identify its users.
HealthScout is an educational tool and does not provide medical advice. Always consult healthcare professionals for medical decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Health Application is being managed by the CARIN Alliance, which is a multi-sector alliance led by distinguished risk-bearing providers, health plans, pharmaceutical companies, consumer platform companies, health IT companies, third-party applications, and consumer-advocates working collaboratively with other stakeholders in government to overcome barriers in advancing consumer-directed exchange across the U.S.
The CARIN Alliance manages only this website; the CARIN Alliance does not endorse, certify, or manage any of the applications listed on this site. You should make your own judgment as to the application that is best for you based on information provided by the application vendors.
The vision of the CARIN Alliance is to rapidly advance the ability for consumers and their authorized caregivers to easily get, use, and share their digital health information when, where, and how they want to achieve their goals. Specifically, we are promoting the ability for consumers and their authorized caregivers to gain digital access to their health information via non-proprietary application programming interfaces or APIs.
We envision a future where any consumer can choose any application to retrieve both their complete health record and their complete coverage information from any provider or health plan in the country in a secure manner while protecting their privacy and individual consent sharing preferences. This website helps to advance the ability for consumers to access an application of their choice based on their own individual data sharing preferences.
The CARIN Code of Conduct is a set of industry-leading best practices that the companies offering these applications have voluntarily adopted to protect and secure your health information. We strongly recommend that you read the application’s privacy policies and terms and conditions to ensure that you select an application that you feel would protect and secure your health data in a way that is consistent with your individual data sharing preferences.

These applications came from the CMS Blue Button 2.0 site, EHR application vendor websites, CARIN Alliance members, and other public sources. Right now, the only thing that the CARIN Alliance has done is list the websites. Our initial goal is to focus on transparency and making sure the individual selecting an application knows where to go to find an application. We are also trying to make each application’s privacy policies and terms of service more readily available to the individual. Over time, we want to provide more consumer-friendly ways to help individuals understand how these applications are using their data.
